  Lol re gay marriage. Definitely not in the bible nor are the Muslim countries supporting it as this elder said. But he was a bit addled because at 3am that morning he'd got a call telling him his sister had died...I put it in another post.

  But even something like gay marriage is going to make them hmmm and ha aboutp how bad the 'world' is and how Armageddon must be coming soon. I bet they said that when Rosa Parks and others started the civil rights campaign in America. "Black people want equality now, hmmm ha Armageddon must be coming soon..."

  Adjustments In Understanding--2013/7/15/Watchtower!

  this file is being passed around by jehovah's witnesses concerning adjustments in understanding the 2013/7/15/watchtower.

  the first draft they prepared had a typing error, and nevada sent the draft back to the jws for correction.

  they corrected the typing error and sent it back to nevada.

  just trawled a round a few next-gen jw's back in my old neck of the woods up in scotland - kids of my gen really.

  couple of things stood out:.

  1 - some serious fb'ers in there - 800+ friends on one of them.

  I posted factoids and old wt quotes and pics from the noo lite mags on Facebook just to try to stir my Jw friends into using their grey matter but ended up either being unfriended or ratted to the elders. Then I unfriended most jws cuz they just weren't trustworthy.

  It's a shame because there is some good stuff in the bible like beig good to people and that, but it's far heavier on the 'humans are useless children who don't know good from bad' theme.

  i was thinking today about my childhood.

  i knew from a young age that the proper response to a question about what i wanted to be when i grew up was pioneering, missionary, bethel, or c.o.

  i was taught from childhood not to want to be a fireman or astronaut.

  This is so sad. Most parents are thrilled if their kids get into university or Tafe. The only ones who aren't are rednecks and Jws.

  The Last NWT in America

  so, my non jw cousins have been telling me about a couple of jws that have been "coming over a lot and talking about their religion" (it's hilarious that my cousins don't see these sessions as "bible studies").

  it seems that i've been hearing about these ladies for at least a year but i doubt that my cigarette smoking, pants wearing, no-dress owning, flip-flop wearing, verbal swearing cousin they come to meet with isn't always available.

  i was told that the last time they were there, they asked my cousin to get her bible.

  Funny story! Your cousin sounds hilarious. Y does your cousin even submit to these jws visiting? It's funny how these old Jw battle axes don't follow the counsel from the meetings, which is to draw the householder out on his or her beliefs and not shoot them down straight away but try reason on them.

  Funny about the universal sovereignty thing. In years of reading the bible cover-to-cover over and over again, I never found it stated in it. It's just some weird idea they latched onto by cherry picking a few scriptures, as Laika points out where he shows what a great chunk of scripture shows. The WT never uses great chunks of scripture though, just a few disparate ones from all over the bible. Great chunks blow their dogma out of the water.

  nearly everyday their is someone new coming on this board that has learned ttatt .and this site is only one of many that reach out to jw`s in the hope of setting them free.also many people just leave the organisation without ever posting on any of these sites , then coupled with the amount of disfellowshiped and disascociated ones, the figure must be quite extroardinary to say the least .i dont suppose their is any way of quantifying that though is their.just curious.. smiddy.

  No worries. Those comments at the bottom of articles can get JWs to think. It was actually reading some of those comments by exes that made me aware of the history and practices of the JWs even though I'd been in over a decade. I myself looked for the comment field but it didn't come up for some reason.
